Triple Success For Irish At Crawley 24 Hour Event

There was triple success for Ireland at the Crawley 24 Hour event which took place this weekend. The annual track Ultra distance race raises money for Advance International Ministries Charity supporting orphans and children in Uganda.

Ben Carroll took the runner-up spot with a second place finish. He ran a total of 154 miles/248 km making him the 10th Irish male to run further than 240 km in 24 hours. It also places him 2nd on the all-time Irish list.

Dave Andrews of Metro Aberdeen Running Club finished in 3rd place with a total distance of 148 miles/238 km. Andrews is no stranger to the big stage having finished 40th in the European 24-Hour Championships in Verona last year. He also competed for the Northern Ireland & Ulster squad in the recent Anglo Celtic Plate 100k event.

Aoife Ni Mhaoileoin finished as 3rd female with an impressive 132 miles/214 km over the full 24 hours. Aoife is also no stranger to endurance events having previously been part of the first all-female team of four to row 2,400 miles across the Pacific Ocean.
