Donadea 50k Finisher Video Goes Viral

It’s one of the most popular races in Ireland and a Donadea 50k finisher video that has gone viral shows exactly the reason why. Unlike other 50k races, participants in Donadea have 5 hours to complete the distance. This added ingredient leads to many emotional and inspiring last-second dashes toward the finish line.

One of those who were battling the clock in the final seconds was Tess Hayden of Garristown Flyers AC. A video was taken by fellow runner Andrew Moore @fitnessgoose showing the support, energy, emotion, and inspiration that unfolded as she crossed the line with 8 seconds to spare.

The clip is captioned with “When you have under one minute to break the 5-hour cut-off in a 50km race and everyone wants you to hit that goal! This is what running is all about! Listen to the crowd, listen to the runners around supporting you, and feel the pure electricity of running for 5 hours to finish within 10 seconds of the race cut-off time! You can see a man holding a sign saying “Be under 5 hours”

Tess who joined the Donadea 50k finisher club outlined just what the frantic finish meant to her. “Thanks for sharing this! It was a frantic finish but the support got me over the line. Whoever was shouting at me, running beside me, willing me on, thank you. For all the cheers and support, thank you. You are all amazing and that finish represents what sport, and running is for me and is all about. Teamwork, camaraderie, just downright pulling together to offer someone a helping hand. Thank you!”

Since it was posted the video has been viewed over 1.4 million times on TikTok while on Instagram it received over 75,000 likes and over 900 comments.
