Anglo Celtic Plate Sees Strong Team Ireland Performance

Team Ireland put in a strong performance at the Anglo Celtic Plate including a new national 100k record.

Athletics Ireland selected a self-funded team of up to five Men and five Women to take part in the Anglo Celtic Plate Home International.

The event is used as a developmental event to prepare athletes for future competition at European and World Championships.

The Anglo Celtic Plate also incorporate the Athletics Ireland 100Km Championships as part of an Open Race. Athletes in the Open Race will also be eligible for National Championship Medals.

Anglo Celtic Plate 50k Open Race

Sean Mehan of Cherryorchard Running Club took home 2nd place and silver medal finishing in a time of 3:38.

Anglo Celtic Plate 100k Race

The 100k race was won by England’s Jarlath McKenna in a time of 6:37:19. Sarah Webster was 1st female and set a new British Athletics 100km record with a time of 7:03:40.

The Ireland Men’s team of took 3rd place Bronze including a new National 100k record by Ciaran McGonagle.
